Nestled amid towering trees, Mankin Mansion delivers what no other venue in Richmond, Virginia, can: a perfect balance between the old and the new, the outside and the in. The Italianate-Georgian Revival estate has been the setting of many romantic celebrations, offering lovebirds the perfect alfresco ceremony space punctuated by red-brick pathways, gold accents, and twinkling lights strung overhead. Outdoor celebrations are our specialty, but we also know that having a backup plan goes a long way. That’s why we offer a stunning indoor option as well — a classic romance-meets-European Gallery anchored by a grand fireplace. Whether you’re exchanging vows in the Gallery or in the formal English gardens, enjoying a drink for cocktail hour by the brick pergola, or dancing under the stars, one thing is certain: No one will devote more time and effort into the success of your wedding than our passionate and devoted Mansion Team.
Envisioning a ceremony site straight out of a fairy tale? This is it. With a red-brick aisle leading to an elevated stage — perfect for exchanging those sweet vows — and an iron arbor dripping with florals, the estate’s garden is the stuff of storybook magic. Seat your guests on white lawn chairs with a perfect view of the estate, the towering evergreens — and of course, you and your beloved.
Weather happens — that’s why we have a climate-controlled indoor option for those who want to avoid a bit of rainfall or an overzealous summer sun. That said, our European-inspired Gallery is a stunning space in its own right. Think: exposed brick walls, crystal chandeliers, and a showstopper of a fireplace. It’s part old-world classic, part modern day, and entirely dazzling for indoor ceremonies and receptions.
Toast to the day ahead inside the dreamy Summer Parlor, which has everything you need to get ready in style: adjustable low-back salon chairs, mirrors galore, perfect lighting, and ample space to relax and prepare. It’s also luxuriously appointed with ornate furnishings, chandeliers dripping with crystals, and exposed brick and gold accents — making it a perfect spot for those “getting ready” shots before the big event.
Whether it’s to connect with your friends or destress before your big day, the Lounge offers a fun place to gather and challenge your nearest and dearest to a game of pool. Have a photographer in tow for capturing those quintessential “getting ready” detail shots? This room is a fitting option for those candid and once-in-a-lifetime moments
The Rockefeller Room is located within the main Mansion and is open to guests throughout the entire event. Filled with history, the Rockefeller Room was named after John D. Rockefeller who visited Mankin Mansion and commissioned Mankin Brick for the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg. This grand-yet-intimate space is highlighted by a romantic fireplace, a gilded grand piano, and a bespoke mix of classic French and modern velvet furnishings — this is the room to sneak off to for a few epic portraits with your photographer.
What’s better than a leisurely post-ceremony hour outside, cocktail in hand? While the newlyweds sneak off for photo time, guests can enjoy their time on our sun-drenched lawn and brick patio. In the evening, string lights add a touch of whimsy to the setting, and an outdoor garden maze and chess set keep everyone entertained throughout the day.
